Norway and France sign mutual defence agreement
Today, Norway and France have signed a comprehensive defence agreement under which the two countries commit to come to each other’s aid should the need arise. Together with nine other European countries, Norway will also participate in a process to determine how France’s nuclear weapons can contribute to security and deterrence in Europe.
NOK 203 million in new funding for the Red Cross’s efforts for Ukraine
When drones and missiles strike residential areas in Ukraine, Red Cross volunteers are among the first on the scene to get people to safety. Norway is now providing 203 million kroner to support their efforts to meet the urgent humanitarian needs of the war-torn Ukrainian population.
The Government asks hospitals and municipalities to update health emergency preparedness plans
The Government is instructing the regional health authorities to review updated emergency preparedness plans in the health and care sector together with the municipalities. The plans must be strengthened in order to handle war and war-like situations. They must be based on a requirement to make 7,000 beds available for war casualties — both civilian and military.
