Ministry of Local Government and Regional Development (1998–2014)

On 1 January 1998, the Ministry of Local Government and Labour (of 1993) had its name changed to the Ministry of Local Government and Regional Development. Labour affairs were transferred to the Ministry of Planning and Coordination. This now had its name changed to the Ministry of Government Administration and Labour, listed here as the Ministry of Government Administration and Labour (of 1998).

On 17 October 2005, responsibility for integration, immigration, Sami and minority affairs in the Ministry of Local Government and Regional Development was transferred to the minister responsible for the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs (of 2004). On 1 January 2006, these affairs were transferred to the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs (of 2004), which now had its name changed to the Ministry of Labour and Social Inclusion.

On 1 January 2014, the Ministry of Local Government and Regional Development had its name changed to the Ministry of Local Government and Modernisation. Most of the affairs from the abolished Ministry of Government Administration, Reform and Church Affairs were transferred.
