Swedish-Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Stockholm (1814–1905)

When the personal union between Sweden and Norway was established on 4 November 1814, foreign affairs were handled by the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Stockholm. This remained the situation until the union was dissolved in 1905.

The Swedish-Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs was during the entire union period 1814-1905 headed by Swedish citizens. Until 1876, the title was Prime Minister for Foreign Affairs, then Minister of Foreign Affairs.

The system with a Swedish-Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Stockholm lasted until the Storting on 7 June 1905 declared the union with Sweden to be dissolved. On 15 June 1905, the Department of Foreign Affairs in the Norwegian Ministry of Trade (of 1903) became acting Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Kristiania. The Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs was formally established on 1 December 1905.
