The Working Environment Act

The purpose of the Working Environment Act is to ensure safe working conditions and equal treatment among workers, and to ensure that the working environment forms a basis for a health-promoting and meaningful work situation.

The Working Environment Act applies to all employees, with the exception of seafaring and fisheries, which are regulated by separate regulations. The Act contains provisions about employers and employees' obligations with respect to ensuring acceptable working environment. Enterprises are required to have safety delegates and working environment committees, and some enterprises are required to have a corporate health service where necessary.
