‘Norway and 11 other Western countries are either introducing or considering implementing a ban on trade with settlements in the West Bank. This illustrates how serious the situation is and shows that there is widespread support for the two-state solution,’ said Prime Minister Støre.

The meeting was held during the UN General Assembly High-level Week in New York and comes a year after a number of countries recognised Palestine and a ceasefire was reached in Gaza.

‘There are still children who do not have a roof over their heads, and winter is on the way. It is crucial to ensure that more humanitarian assistance is delivered,’ said Mr Støre.

Under Norway’s leadership, the international donor group for Palestine, the Ad Hoc Liaison Committee (AHLC), will reconvene key stakeholders later this week. Mr Støre stressed the need for everyone to pull in the same direction. The Palestinian state must be given enough support to maintain its institutions, he said, adding that the tax revenues Israel is withholding must also be transferred to Palestine.

‘The goal is clear: two states, one for the Israelis and one for the Palestinians. We must all work together to make this happen,’ said Prime Minister Støre.
