"According to the latest report by the UN Fact-Finding Mission on Iran, at least 29 men were executed in connection with the protests, following summary trials. The Mission warned that more than 70 people remained at imminent risk of execution.

"We are particularly concerned by reports that Najmeh Amini has been sentenced to death in connection with expressions on social media, and by the arrest of human rights lawyer Amirsalar Davoudi. “Freedom of expression and the ability of lawyers and human rights defenders to carry out their work without fear of persecution must be protected. Tragically, these represent just two of many other serious cases of repression against those peacefully exercising their fundamental rights and freedoms in Iran.”

"We call on Iran to immediately end its use and impose a moratorium on executions, and release all persons arbitrarily detained for exercising their rights to freedom of expression and peaceful assembly. In particular, we urge Iran to overturn the death sentence against Najmeh Amini, release Amirsalar Davoudi, and uphold its international human rights obligations”, said Eide.
