‘It is very welcoming news that all vessels with Norwegian affiliations that wished to do so have now finally been able to transit the Strait of Hormuz. For Norway’s maritime industry, the past months have been exceptionally challenging‘, says State Secretary Kravik,
‘It is crucial for both stability in the Middle East and the global economy that the Strait remains open and free from restrictions, in accordance with the law of the sea. This is also of significant importance for Norway and Norwegian interests‘, says Kravik.
‘Going forward, Norway will continue to work to uphold respect for the principle of freedom of navigation under international law and contribute where possible toward the full and lasting reopening of the Strait of Hormuz in accordance with the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS)‘, says State Secretary Kravik.
