“This is a historic day for Norway as a space nation, and indeed for Europe. The launch marks a breakthrough for Norwegian and European space activities and is the result of cooperation between German company Isar Aerospace and Norway’s Andøya Space. This strengthens Europe’s access to space,” says Minister of Industry and Commerce Cecilie Myrseth.

An Attractive Location for Satellite Launches

“We depend on satellites in modern society. They are critical infrastructure that we use every day. Being able to launch satellites from Andøya, Norway, strengthens Norwegian and European security,” says Minister Industry and CommerceCecilie Myrseth.

As an Arctic country, Norway has made it a goal to become a leader in situational awareness in the Arctic and to establish launch capabilities at Andøya.

“Andøya Spaceport has a unique location for satellite launches. Through its cooperation with German company Isar Aerospace, it has established ties with one of Europe’s leading launch companies. Today’s launch is yet another step forward in the effort to develop Andøya into a modern and attractive spaceport,” says Myrseth.
