Press release | Date: 15/10/2026 | Ministry of Finance
Today, the Minister of Finance Jens Stoltenberg received the report from the Committee that has reviewed the ethical framework for the Government Pension Fund Global.
The committee chair, Svein Gjedrem, handed the report to the Minister, and it will today be sent out for broad public consultation, with a deadline of 15 January.
The Minister of Finance thanked the Committee, which consisted of experts and professionals, for its work.
“It is a long-standing tradition that important decisions regarding the management of the Fund are based on thorough professional assessments and broad political backing. Everyone who cares about protecting the Norwegian welfare society should care about protecting the Fund,” says Minister of Finance Jens Stoltenberg.
“We will now study the committee’s recommendations carefully and facilitate a broad debate. Only once this process has been completed, and both the report and the consultation responses have been considered, will the Government draw its own conclusions,” says the Minister of Finance.
We aim to present our assessments in the white paper on the Fund in spring 2027.
Background to the committee
