Media accreditation for the 75th Session of the Nordic Council

From 30 October to 2 November, the Nordic Council meets in Oslo. Several members of the Norwegian government will participate.

Parliamentarians, prime ministers, foreign ministers, ministers of Nordic cooperation and several other ministers from the Nordic countries will meet during the Nordic Council's session in Oslo. The meeting will take place in Oslo since Norway holds the presidency of the Nordic Council. From the Norwegian government, the prime minister and a number of other ministers will participate.

On Tuesday 31 October there will be a summit between the Nordic Council and the Nordic prime ministers. The topic of the summit is how the Nordics can achieve the goal of becoming the world's most sustainable and integrated region by 2030. In light of the changed security policy situation, Nordic cooperation in total defence, preparedness and supply security will also be discussed.

The same day, there will be a separate meeting  between the Nordic prime ministers. A press conference will follow. NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg is this year’s guest speaker and will participate in parts of the summit.

In the evening, the Nordic Council's award ceremony is organized in the Oslo Opera. Five prizes will be awarded in the fields of environment, music, film, literature and children's and youth literature.

On Wednesday 1 November, the ministers of foreign affairs, defense ministers and ministers of Nordic cooperation will provide their reports. The Nordic ministers of foreign affairs will meet, followed by a press conference.

Media wishing to cover the meetings, the award ceremony and the press conferences must apply for accreditation on the website of the Nordic Council.

The deadline for accreditation is 27 October at 14.00.

 

About the Nordic Council of Ministers

The Nordic Council of Ministers is the Nordic governments' official cooperation body. The members of the Nordic Council of Ministers are the five Nordic countries Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden. In addition, the Faroe Islands, Greenland and Åland are represented.

The Nordic cooperation ministers coordinate the work in the Nordic Council of Ministers. Development Minister Anne Beathe Tvinnereim is Norway's minister for Nordic cooperation.
