Prime Minister and Defence Minister visits NATO exercise Trident Juncture

Prime Minister Erna Solberg and Minister of Defence Frank Bakke-Jensen will visit the military exercise Trident Juncture at Røros and Rena Saturday 27 october. Sunday 28th Norway’s Defence Minister will visit Swedish Forces in Røros area together with the Swedish Defence Minister. In addition, he will visit the Rena area in connection with visits from the Dutch and German Defence Ministers. The Defence Minister also participates in DV Day 30 October at Byneset in Trondheim.

Note to editor:

It will be possible, for accredited press, to follow the visit to the Norwegian Brigade Nord at Røros and Rødsmoen camp at Rena.

Saturday 27th: Visit to the Norwegian Brigade Nord and Armoured Battalion in the Røros area

12:55 Prime Minister meets NATOs Admiral James Foggo, who is the leader for Trident Juncture. In addition, Chief of the Brigade Lars Lervik will receive the Prime Minister for the visit to the Armoured Battalion. There will be a display of some of the military equipment that are in use in the field. There will be opportunities to interview representatives from the Norwegian Army, in addition to the Prime Minister and Admiral Foggo.

Saturday 27th: Visit to Camp Rødsmoen and a German multinational force at Rena

16:15: Prime Minister visits the German led multinational brigade (VJTF) at Camp Rødsmoen by Rena camp. The brigade mainly consists of soldiers from Germany, Norway and the Netherlands, but other countries also participates. There will be a brief by the leadership of the brigade, a short meeting with soldiers and display of VJTF equipment.

Sunday 28/10: Defence ministers from Norway and Sweden visit Swedish multinational force south of Røros

It is not planned a separate press conference, but media who wish to participate in this can contact us to discuss the possibilities to cover the field visit. Sweden participates in the exercise with a whole brigade. The brigade is reinforced with a Finnish light infantry company.

Monday 29/10: Defence Minister visits the VJTF brigade together with the Dutch Defense Minister at Camp Rødsmoen, Rena

We are setting up a press conference with the display of military equipment and personnel. There will be short statements from both ministers and answers to questions. Possibility of speaking with soldiers in addition to the two states' defense managers.

The German-led multinational VTFJ19 brigade has four battalion battle groups from four different nations, including mechanized from Germany, the Netherlands and Norway (Telemark battalion).

Tuesday 30/10: Defence Minister attends press conference with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg

NATO's Secretary-General and Norway's Defence Minister have a joint press conference, which is open to accredited / registered journalists to NATO.

Wednesday 31/10: Defence Minister visits the VJTF brigade together with Germany's Defence Minister at Camp Rødsmoen, Rena

We are preparing for a larger press conference in the morning with the display of military equipment and personnel.

There will be statements from both ministers and answers to questions to the media. The German-led Multinational Very High Readiness Joint Task Force, Country (VJTF-L) 19 Brigade. VJTF-L is the initial force that is actively part of NATO's plans to enable a fast allied effort.
