"The rate of infection varies greatly in Viken, and infection levels are still high in several municipalities. Regional measures will be lifted in 10 municipalities on Monday, while 9 others will need to keep strict measures for a couple of weeks more", says Minister of Health and Care Services Bent Høie.

The municipalities of Bærum, Drammen, Lier, Lillestrøm, Lørenskog, Nordre Follo, Rælingen, Ullensaker, and Ås will remain at Level B through 21 May.

The recommendation for Lillestrøm, Lørenskog, and Rælingen is to also keep the local measures that were introduced on 6 May after coordinating measures with Oslo.

It is recommended that Bærum, Drammen, Lier, Nordre Follo, Ullensaker, and Ås assess the need for further local measures.

Asker, Enebakk, Fredrikstad, Frogn, Halden, Indre Østfold, Moss, Råde, Sarpsborg, and Vestby will have regional measures lifted on Monday 10 May at 12 am.

The Ministry has been informed that the municipality of Asker will introduce enhanced local measures on Monday 10 May.

The Norwegian Directorate of Health, the Norwegian Institute of Public Health, the County Governor of Oslo and Viken, and the municipalities affected have been in close contact regarding the matter.

Further details about regional measures
The Norwegian Government may determine which measures to implement in a municipality and surrounding municipalities when it is essential that such measures are put in place quickly and in a coordinated manner in order to prevent the spread of infection.

The level of measures chosen for municipalities depends on the severity of the outbreak. There are three levels of measures that can be applied. These are Level A (a very high level of measures), Level B (a high level of measures) and Level C (a moderate level of measures).
