Key points of the mandate/area of work
The Commission's task is to develop a strategy that will contribute to safeguarding Norway's ability to achieve sustainable restructuring, value creation and competitiveness.
Among other things, the Economic Transition Commission will look at how Norway can best use scarce resources such as labour, energy and nature, as well as discuss the causes of low productivity growth. This work must be viewed in the light of prospects for lower petroleum activity in the decades ahead and international uncertainty, which may affect the localisation of production and trade flows.
An important basis for this work will be the 2024 Long-term Perspectives Report. Furthermore, the Economic Transition Commission shall ensure a breadth of knowledge and perspectives it acquires and take into account other countries' experiences of economic restructuring.
The Commission is due to submit its report in spring 2027.
