Atle Hamar is currently State Secretary of the Norwegian Ministry of Climate and Environment of Norway since the 17 January 2018.

He is from the Liberal Party and is currently on leave from his job as the Director General of the Norwegian Gaming and Foundation Authority. He has previously been State Secretary and Political Advisor in the Ministry of Justice and Police, as well as political advisor in the Ministry of Transport. Mr. Hamar has served on a variety of boards and committees.

Atle Hamar is a qualified teacher at adjunct level and is from Jølster in the Sogn and Fjordane county.
