The National Archives Services comprehend the National Archives, the eight regional state archives, the Sámi Archives and the Norwegian Health Archives.
The National Archives Services' principal tasks are to preserve archive material from governmental entities; make this material available to the public; supervise records administration within central government, the county municipalities and the municipalities; and assist in the preservation of private archives.
