NOC is the principal partner for the state government in matters concerning organized sport. The overall objectives of contributions to the NOC are:

  • Help maintain and develop the NOC as a voluntary, member-based organization.
  • Contribute to maintaining and developing a wide range of activities through organized sport.
  • Help maintain and secure the NOC as an open and inclusive organization, and contribute to sport clubs role as a valuable arena for the social community.

Other objectives have been articulated for the grants that are specifically aimed at children, adolescents, recreational sports and top-level sports.

Through grants to children, adolescents and recreational sports, the government seeks to contribute to a wide range of programs for children (6 -12 years) and adolescents (13 -19 years). Moreover, the contribution’s aim is to give sport clubs the best possible conditions.

The reasoning behind government funding for top-level sports is the role they play in creating cultural identity, and the population’s great interest in this phenomenon.
