The Communication Unit
The Communication Unit manages all Ministry information and communication tasks. The main responsibilities of the unit include research and analysis, strategy planning and counsel to the ministry's political and administrative management. Responsible of all publication through the government web site, regjeringen.no.

Department of Research Policy and Administration
The Department facilitates for research, innovation and competence to contribute to the main goals of agriculture and food policy being achieved, as well as facilitating for efficient operations in the agriculture and food administration. In addition, the Department strives to ensure good administrative support to political leadership, the ministerial councils and other activities.

Department for Land Use, Rural Development and Forest Policy
The department of Department for Land Use, Rural Development and Forest Policy works to develop a long-term forest and resource policy that supports the creation of values, environmental protection, and sustainable business development. It is responsible for advancing a modern and robust farmland protection policy, as well as strategies and tools for business development within the value chains of agriculture, forestry, and outlying land. The department also oversees property legislation in the agricultural sector and follows up on the land consolidation courts. Additionally, it is responsible for the Svalbard Global Seed Vault and maintains the governance dialogue with Innovation Norway and Bionova. The department also manages state ownership of Statskog SF, Kimen, and Graminor.

Department of Food Policy
The Department of Food Policy is responsible for following up on the Food Act, the Animal Welfare Act, the Animal Health Personnel Act, the Dog Act, and the Animal Breeding Act. Much of the legislation in the food sector is harmonized within the EEA. The department is responsible for implementing the EEA Agreement in several areas. It also handles issues related to the WTO/SPS (sanitary and phytosanitary measures under the WTO). Oversight of the Norwegian Food Safety Authority is also part of the department’s responsibilities.

Department of Agricultural Policy
The Department of Agricultural Policy is responsible for the Agricultural Agreement and the Reindeer Husbandry Agreement, including the annual negotiations in these areas. The department also handles climate, environmental, and nature-related issues within the agricultural sector. It follows up on import protection for agricultural products, trade negotiations, and international food security efforts. Additionally, the department oversees the Norwegian Agriculture Agency.
