The aim of the agreement is to initiate cooperation between Norway and India in the field of higher education . The specific collaboration topics will be clarified in further follow-up between the countries. Areas considered appropriate by Norway are science and technology. It is important that collaboration within the field of education is linked with the collaboration done in the field of research, especially at master and PhD level.

- India is among the most important countries to collaborate with in the global knowledge society. This agreement could have important consequences for higher educational institutions and students in Norway, says the Norwegian Minister of Higher Education and Research Ms Tora Aasland.

The agreement is one among several initiatives to extend the scope for / of Norwegian higher education and research. - In a larger context Norway still is a small nation of knowledge.
