Norway condemns the terrorist actions in Uganda’s capital, Kampala, where at least 74 innocent people were killed and many others injured on Sunday evening. Norwegian Foreign Minister Jonas Gahr Støre commented: “We strongly condemn such terrorist actions.”

Mr Støre also expressed his condolences to the families who have been affected by this meaningless terrorist attack.

The blasts were targeted at two venues in Kampala where people had gathered to watch the World Cup final between Spain and the Netherlands on TV.

Uganda is providing the largest contribution of troops to the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM), which the militant Islamist insurgents in Somalia have declared war against. One of these groups (al-Shabab) has now claimed responsibility for the attack.
