
The Norwegian Government honours Jon Fosse
On the occasion of Jon Fosse being awarded the 2023 Nobel Prize in Literature, the Norwegian Government is establishing a new, annual initiative in honour of the author – an annual Fosse lecture, which will be held alongside an event organised by the National Library of Norway, where a Fosse stipend will also be awarded. In this way, the Government wants to demonstrate how important Fosse’s literary works are, both for Norway and internationally.

Changes to the regulations for displaced Ukrainians
Norwegian municipalities have done an outstanding job of settling and integrating displaced persons from Ukraine. Norway will continue this commitment, and take its share of the responsibility, but the level of arrivals must be sustainable over time. The Government is therefore implementing measures to handle the continuing situation with a high number of Ukrainian arrivals.

Norway to provide NOK 270 million to new climate fund
Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre announced at the UN climate summit (COP28) in Dubai that Norway will provide NOK 270 million to the new fund for loss and damage associated with climate change (Loss and Damage Fund).
