Certain contraceptives (such as condoms), as well as assistive devices for persons with disabilities, are also considered medical devices

The Norwegian Medical Products Agency is the professional and supervisory authority for medical devices in Norway. It monitors the products available on the Norwegian market, as well as manufacturers and notified bodies.

The legislation on medical devices is based on EEA regulations and harmonised across the entire EEA area. Medical devices that comply with the regulations may be marketed and sold freely in all EEA countries
