‘I am appalled by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) drone attack on a World Food Programme convoy in North Kordofan,’ said Minister of International Development, Åsmund Aukrust.
‘The convoy was transporting food to hunger-stricken areas. The attack led to at least one death, multiple injuries and the destruction of food that was urgently needed to save lives. Attacks on humanitarians who risk their lives to save others is utterly unacceptable. So is deliberate starvation of civilians as a method of warfare. This needs to stop immediately. Yet again we strongly urge the parties to respect international humanitarian law, protect civilians and facilitate humanitarian access’, said Aukrust.
