'On 11 October, the UN Human Rights Council made an important decision to establish a “Fact Finding Mission” and an investigative mechanism for human rights violations and abuses and violations of international humanitarian law in Sudan since the outbreak of war on 15 April. This mechanism is central to holding those responsible accountable and to ending impunity.'

'The war has hit Sudan’s civilian population severely. The intensification of fighting in Darfur in recent weeks has led to the displacement of thousands of civilians. The flow of displaced persons across the borders to neighbouring states and countries complicates an already difficult humanitarian response. Norway is very concerned about further deterioration of the situation, especially if the RSF offensive in Darfur continues.'

'We will continue to remind the warring parties of their obligations under international humanitarian law and international human rights law, as well as of their commitments in the Jeddah Declaration of 11 May to protect civilians, including by allowing and facilitating unimpeded humanitarian access. Sudan’s civilian population and their protection must come first.'
