Norwegian development cooperation is aimed at more than a hundred goals and involves activities in around a hundred countries around the world. Should efforts be more concentrated to achieve greater impact? How can Norway combine clearer priorities with flexibility to respond to rapidly evolving circumstances and needs in partner countries while mobilising private investment, and making better use of its technological and institutional strengths? Which prioritization principles should guide Norwegian development assistance going forward? And how can such principles help to reduce inequalities, enhance international solidarity and contribute to defending human rights and a rules-based international order under pressure?

This seminar brings together policymakers, researchers and “up-and-coming voices” to explore where and how Norway can make the greatest difference. The programme includes a presentation from Norad, a panel of emerging voices offering fresh perspectives on future priorities, and a panel with the academic community reflecting on key turning points, principles and dilemmas around concentration in Norwegian development policy.
