Øystein Olsen (58) was today appointed new Governor of the central bank of Norway (Norges Bank). Olsen is appointed for a 6 year period, and will take office on 1 January 2011.

Øystein Olsen was from January 2005 Managing Director for Statistics Norway. Olsen is an economist, and graduated from the University of Oslo in 1977.
