The government is today presenting a legislative proposal that will provide a clear temporary statutory authority to allow the continuation of the requirement for persons who are unable to document access to another suitable location to undergo quarantine in a quarantine hotel.
The requirement to stay in a quarantine hotel will be introduced pursuant to the specific authorisation set out in Section 7-12 of the Act relating to control of communicable diseases. The Norwegian Storting must be notified of rules issued on this basis, and if they are not discontinued within 30 days of such notification they must be presented as a legislative proposal without undue delay. This is what the government is now doing.
Only the statutory authority is being presented to the Storting. The substantial changes to the quarantine hotel scheme will be determined during the course of the weekend.
