The Secretary General is the administrative head of the Ministry. The Ministry's leader group consists of the Secretary General, the Head of Information and the Director Generals of the Ministry's Departments.

The Secretary General is the Ministry’s highest permanent official. The Secretary General is tasked with relieving and acting as an advisor for the Minister in the work relating to management and coordination of the Ministry’s work. The Secretary General is the Minister’s closest colleague and advisor, both regarding technical and policy matters.
