Fredrik Tiochta Sørlie became political adviser to the Minister of Transport, Kamzy Gunaratnam, on 11 September 2026. He came from the post of adviser in the information department of Fagforbundet (the Norwegian Union of Municipal and General Employees). He has previously been political adviser to the chief executive of Abelia, communications adviser at the think tank Agenda (Tankesmien Agenda), and adviser to the Labour Party's parliamentary group.

He has been a member of the central board of the AUF (the Workers' Youth League of Norway), a member of the city council and the executive committee in Porsgrunn, and leader of the AUF in Telemark. He grew up in Porsgrunn and holds a bachelor's degree in communication management from BI (the BI Norwegian Business School).
