Foreign Minister Jan Petersen condemns new acts of terror in Istanbul

Foreign Minister Jan Petersen condemned the terrorist bombings in Istanbul on Thursday and expressed his outrage at these acts of violence. There are many British and Turkish citizens among those killed.

"I am horrified at the new suicide attacks in Istanbul," said Mr Petersen, and added that his thoughts are particularly with those who were wounded and with the families and friends of those who were killed.

"Acts of terrorism of this kind are despicable. Yesterday’s attacks in Istanbul show once again how important it is that we all unite in the fight against terrorism. I also wish to extend my deepest condolences to Turkish Foreign Minister Abdullah Gül and UK Foreign Secretary Jack Straw."
