Norway gives more than 8.5 million kroner to flood victims in Mozambique

Norway has contributed more than NOK 8.5 million towards measures to help victims of the flood disaster in Mozambique. The most important measures are emergency relief and rehabilitation for 10,000 people through the Norwegian Red Cross, food supplies to the World Food Programme, water storage and purification equipment and medicines to UNICEF, emergency supplies and logistics to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs and cash contributions to air transportation to the authorities in Mozambique. Assistance is also being given to other countries in the region that have been affected by the floods.

We are assessing the situation in Mozambique and neighbouring countries from day to day and are prepared to provide further humanitarian assistance if the need arises, says Minister of International Development and Human Rights Hilde Frafjord Johnson.
