Norwegian appointed Director of IAEA Office of Internal Oversight Services

City Auditor of the city of Oslo Frits Arne Eriksen has been appointed as Director of the Office of Internal Oversight Services of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), which is a UN agency.

Mr Eriksen has a wide range of experience, which makes him particularly well qualified for his new post. For example, he has served as Director of the Audit Office of the city of Trondheim, head of section in the Performance Audit Department of the Office of the Auditor General, and Director of the Accounting Department of Norwegian Defence. He was also head of the Financial Management Division of the OSCE mission in Kosovo for a number of years.

Mr Eriksen’s appointment was approved by the IAEA Board of Governors at a meeting on 8 March. He will take up this important post after the summer holiday.

There is only one other Norwegian employed at the IAEA. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is seeking to increase the number of Norwegian employees in the agency.
