The parties, the Government of Sri Lanka and the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), will meet in Geneva on 28-29 October for direct consultations in order to explore the opportunities for further peace talks.

Journalists will have access to the following two media opportunities:

  1. Saturday 28 October: Opening statements by the Norwegian facilitator and the Swiss host of the talks. Venue: The Conference Centre Varembé, CCV (rue de Varembé 17, Geneva,). Doors open at 08:30. Journalists are requested to be on time.
  2. Sunday 29 October: Media briefing immediately after the adjournment of the consultations. Venue: The International Conference Centre Geneva, CICG (rue de Varembé 17, Geneva). Doors open at 15:30. No access will be granted after 16:30.

Journalists wishing access to the media opportunities, must register at the Geneva Press Club office, where accreditation cards will be issued on presentation of a valid national press card and a valid ID card. Only accreditation cards delivered by the Geneva Press Club will be considered valid.

The Club suisse de la presse/Geneva Press Club will be the press centre during the Sri Lanka consultations.

  • The Geneva Press Club will be open for registration and accreditation on Thursday 26 October from 09.00 to 17.00 and Friday 27 October from 09.00 to 17.00.
  • The press centre at the Geneva Press Club will be open on Saturday 28 October from 08.30 to17.00 and Sunday 29 October from 14.00 to 18.00.
