Entry into force of a renegotiated agreement with the EU on administrative cooperation in the field of VAT

On June 4, 2025, the Storting (the Norwegian Parliament) approved consent for the entry into force of an agreement amending the Agreement between Norway and the EU on administrative cooperation in the field of VAT. Today, the King in Council has decided on the entry into force of the amendment Agreement. Norway will now notify the EU that the internal legal procedures for implementing the Agreement have been completed.
The Agreement will enter into force on the first day of the second month following this notification. The EU has completed its internal procedures for the entry into force.
The Agreement was signed in Brussels on October 2, 2024, and will strengthen cooperation with the EU to combat cross-border VAT fraud.
