Accreditation for the day of the funeral

On the day of the funeral, 9 September, a ceremonial procession will transport the coffin of His Majesty King Harald V from the Royal Palace to Oslo Cathedral. The procession will proceed along Karl Johans gate, turn left into Kirkegata and continue to Oslo Cathedral, where the funeral service will take place. After the service, the procession will continue to Akershus Castle Church, where a private ceremony will be held.

Please note that position no. 1 will change to position no. 12 when King Haakon VIII returns from Akershus Fortress following the funeral service.

Timeline:

06.00: Press positions number 9 opens. 
09.00: Other positions open.
10.00: Last entry for equipment and rigging.
11.00: Last entry at all press positions, except for position number 11 where last entry is at 13.15. Also position 12 will have a later entry.

Guidelines

  • You may re-enter your position after leaving. However, re-entry cannot be guaranteed due to large crowds.
  • A host and security personnel will be present at each position.
  • At position 1 no livereporting
  • At position 12 livereporting is permitted

Media Pool

The Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation (NRK) and the Norwegian News Agency (NTB) will provide pooled media coverage of the various events taking place in connection with the passing of King Harald V and the succession to the throne.

For information about pool feeds and details on when images, video footage and audio material will be made available, media representatives are asked to contact NRK and NTB directly.

Press Centre

A press centre is established in "Professorboligen" at the University of Oslo, Karl Johans gate 47. The centre provide workstations and internet access for visiting Norwegian and international media representatives.

The press centre will be open daily from 09:00 to 17:00 up to and including Monday 7 September. On Tuesday 8 September, opening hours will be extended from 09:00 to 23:00. On Wednesday 9 September the press centre will be open from 08:00 to 18:00.

Media representatives wishing to make use of the press centre must be able to present a valid press card.

Access to the Palace Square

The Palace Square is open and accessible to media wishing to cover events from there. All media representatives present in the Palace Square are asked to follow the instructions given by members of His Majesty The King's Guard and the Royal Court staff.

The following rules apply:

Areas

  • There are no restrictions on photography by the media other than directions issued by the police and the King's Guard.
  • Certain areas of the Palace Square have been specially designated for live broadcasts and interviews. Members of the media are requested to limit their live broadcasts to just these areas so as not to obstruct pedestrian access. The main area for live broadcasts and interviews is located on the southern side of the Palace Square, facing Henriks Ibsens gate, and will be clearly marked. Information about additional live broadcast areas will be published on the kongehuset.no website as they are established.
  • The main area for live broadcasts (on the southern side of the Square, facing Henrik Ibsens gate) will be equipped with power supply. To access electricity from the power distribution cabinet, media representatives will need to bring an outdoor-rated extension lead.
  • Media representatives are required to provide their own internet access.

Accreditation

  • All members of the media wishing to cover the events from the Palace Square must present a valid press card or other relevant identification proving that they are participating as media representatives.
  • No press accreditation is required for press coverage from the Palace Square except on the day of the funeral.

Traffic access and parking

  • The Queen's Park (Dronningparken) will be closed to all pedestrian and vehicle traffic unless prior authorisation has been granted.
  • It will not be permitted to park any vehicles in the Palace Square or the Palace Park.
  • Permission to park on the grounds of the Royal Palace will only be granted to those with prior authorisation. This will primarily be reserved for those taking part in the media pool.
  • Parking permission will only apply in connection with previously agreed activities and not for any other forms of media coverage. All parking permission must be obtained in advance to gain access to the area.

Information meetings

Regular information meetings for the media will be held at the press centre. The media will be informed of the timing of these meetings.

The information meetings are intended to help media representatives to plan their coverage of events, and there will not be an opportunity for interviews. Media representatives wishing to attend these meetings must be able to present a valid press card.
