While the fighting now, hopefully, comes to a halt, the humanitarian crisis is by no means over. Gaza is completely destroyed. Rebuilding Gaza and improving the standard of living will be an enormous challenge.

This agreement is the result of tireless diplomatic efforts, and I would like to commend everyone who has worked to make it happen. I especially want to highlight the efforts of Qatar, Egypt, and the United States.

The ceasefire agreement is a first important step, but even if it holds, it does not provide lasting peace between Israelis and Palestinians. The conflict must now shift to a new track. We need a political solution. The Palestinian institutions must be strengthened and prepared to assume full control and responsibility, including in Gaza. Both Israel and Palestine must receive credible security guarantees, and the solution must be anchored regionally.

These were the key topics discussed during today’s meeting on the implementation of the two-state solution. Norway hosted the meeting in which Palestine's Prime Minister Mohammed Mustafa participated, along with representatives from 84 countries and organizations.
