‘The pictures from the war-torn cities in Ukraine are gruesome. Norway will help chart and investigate possible war crimes, so that the parties responsible can be held accountable. This will be difficult, comprehensive work,’ says Minister of Justice and Public Security Emilie Enger Mehl.

The ICC has asked Norway to provide assistance in connection with the ongoing war in Ukraine. The National Criminal Investigation Service (NCIS) will participate in this work, with the Norwegian Police Directorate in charge of practical arrangements.

‘In Norway, it is the NCIS which has national responsibility for investigating war crimes. It has important and good knowledge about such matters, which is why it is natural for the NCIS to handle Norway’s contribution to this work,’ states Ms Mehl.
