The government has today put out to consultation amendments to the Covid-19 regulations that will result in the introduction of a digital system to capture travel quarantine data.

An obligation upon individuals to register prior to their arrival in Norway will be introduced. Individuals will be required to register details including their name, contact details, quarantine location and employer (if applicable). The main rule is that anyone entering the country, including Norwegian citizens, must be registered in the system. The purpose of this registration is to ensure compliance with the requirement to quarantine, enhance infection control measures and contribute to improved track and trace efficiency. This data may therefore be disclosed in those instances where doing so is necessary in order to fulfil these objectives. Personal data will be deleted after a period of 20 days.

The deadline for responses to the consultation is Wednesday 16 December 2020.
