The Norwegian Digitalisation Agency’s main tasks are:

  • Defining the premises for digitalisation and comprehensive information management in the public sector
  • Coordinating digitalisation measures across organisational boundaries
  • Facilitating the development of digital services for the general public, local authorities and business
  • Managing and further developing national components and solutions
  • Responsibility for the strategic planning of the further development of a comprehensive digital infrastructure for the public sector
  • Supervising the universal design of ICT
  • Contributing to the development and implementation of the Norwegian government’s ICT policy
  • Defining the premises for innovation in the public sector
  • Ensuring plain language is used in public administration

The directorate was established on 1 January 2020. It consists of parts of the former Agency for Public Management and eGovernment (Difi) and of Altinn. The Norwegian Digitalisation Agency has offices in Oslo, Leikanger and Brønnøysund.
