Norwegian Agency for Public and Financial Management (DFØ)

The Norwegian Agency for Public and Financial Management (DFØ) is the expert body for financial management within the central government. The agency is also promotes good administrative management in central government bodies.

DFØ is the main shared service centre for payroll and/or accounting services for 83 percent of all central government agencies.

DFØ is also responsible for the central government accounts and for the administration of the central government treasury single account system.

The agency is charged with the administration of the Regulations for financial management in central government, the Instructions for official studies and reports and the Regulations on cost benefit analysis. DFØ also provides training, guidance, methods and tools for good governance to government agencies.

DFØ had 777 employees as at the end of 2022, with 699 FTE on a yearly basis, divided between a central unit in Oslo, payroll services in Stavanger and accounting services in Trondheim.
