The Department of Digitalisation

The Department of Digitalisation is responsible for coordinating digitalisation efforts in the health and care sector. Digitalisation is a key instrument for streamlining and further developing health and care services and for achieving more efficient use of public resources.

The Department is responsible for central digitalisation measures in the health and care sector and for ensuring that these are aligned with the objectives for the development of health and care services. Measures the Department works on include digital interaction, the Health Technology Scheme (Helseteknologiordningen), health registries and secondary use of health data, standardisation, digital security and not least the state budget processes and financial control and analysis related to the follow-up of these measures. The Department exercises the state ownership of Norsk helsenett SF (the Norwegian Health Network).

Key tasks include strategy development and governance at national level, and follow-up of national programmes, projects and activities. The Department works with budgets, legislation, financing, financial monitoring and organisational structures as instruments to strengthen and steer digitalisation.

The Department of Digitalisation consists of two sections. Deputy Directors General Gunn Signe Jakobsen and Kristian Skauli each head a section.
