Previously, Hansen served as political adviser to Minister of Climate and Environment Andreas Bjelland Eriksen and Minister of Climate and Environment Tore O. Sandvik, as well as to Marte Mjøs Persen during her tenure as Minister of Petroleum and Energy and Minister of Labour and Social Inclusion.

He also worked as a political adviser to Mjøs Persen while she was Mayor of Bergen and has been employed by the Labour Party’s parliamentary group.

Hansen has previously served as deputy leader and leader of the Norwegian Student Organization, and as a political adviser in the Workers' Youth League (AUF).

He was born and raised in Ballangen, Nordland. He holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Oslo (2019), including an exchange semester at American University in Washington D.C., USA.
