Norway’s oil adventure continues in Northern Norway

Statoil has today announced its development concept for oil from the Skrugard field in the Barents Sea. The concept involves constructing an onshore terminal at Veidnes outside Honningsvåg in Finnmark.
“This concept represents an important, forward-looking step towards the development of a third field in the Barents Sea. I am very pleased that the companies have chosen an onshore solution for oil transportation that will also be usable in the event of further oil discoveries in the promising Skrugard area. Today’s decision will generate employment in Northern Norway, and is further concrete evidence of the local and regional ripple effects of offshore petroleum activity,” says Minister of Petroleum and Energy Ola Borten Moe (Centre Party).
