Ministry of Health and Care Services (2004–)

The Ministry of Health and Care Services (HOD) is responsible for providing good and equal health and care services for the population of Norway. The ministry directs these services by means of a comprehensive legislation, annual budgetary allocations and through various governmental institutions.

On 1 October 2004, the Ministry of Health had its name changed to the Ministry of Health and Care Services. A number of social affairs were transferred from the Ministry of Social Affairs (of 2002). This now had its name changed to the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs, listed here as the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs (of 2004).

On 1 January 2006, alcohol and drug affairs were transferred to the Ministry of Health and Care Services from the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs (of 2004). The Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs (of 2004) now had its name changed to the Ministry of Labour and Social Inclusion.

On 17 January 2018, responsibility for elderly and public health affairs was transferred to an additional minister in the Ministry of Health and Care Services.
