RETHOS: Background

In Norway, there is currently a major restructuring of National Curriculum Regulations in health and welfarel education in order to make these more future-oriented. The restructuring is based on an acknowledgement that curricula easily can become too static and fail to adapt to the rapid changes taking place in the related services.

New technology, new professional knowledge, changing demographics and major reorganisations have resulted in changes in skills requirements. Experience has also shown that the recipients of graduates, i.e. employers and services, did not have sufficient influence on the content of the curricula.
