Educational loans and grants

Educational loans and grants are intended to provide adequate support to cover living expenses while individuals pursue an education.
The objective of the educational support scheme is to ensure that:
- Everyone has an equal opportunity to obtain an education regardless of geographic location, age, gender, level of disability, and financial and social circumstances;
- Society and working life has access to the competency it needs;
- Education is provided under satisfactory working conditions so that pupils and students may pursue their studies in an effective manner.
For information on applying for an educational loan, please contact the Norwegian State Educational Loan Fund (Lånekassen). The Ministry of Education and Research is responsible for developing support schemes in keeping with the Government’s political priorities.
