Norway to contribute NOK 300 million to NATO-led fund for Ukraine

- The need for military support to Ukraine is substantial and critical. Donations contribute to the Ukrainian defence against Russia’s illegal attack. It is important that we stand together in both our military and civilian support to provide Ukraine with what they need to defend themselves, says Norwegian Minister of Defence Bjørn Arild Gram (Sp).
NATOs Comprehensive Assistance Package (CAP) collects contributions from various Allies and partners in order to support Ukraine. The programme consists of support for both democratic control, openness and anti-corruption measures as well as material support to for instance medical equipment, drones, anti-jamming equipment and uniforms.
-The NOK 300 million contribution puts Norway among the top contributors to the CAP-programme, says Gram.
The Norwegian parliament recently granted NOK 3 billion in military support to Ukraine in 2022, in accordance with the government’s recommendation. Norway to provide NOK 3 billion in military support to Ukraine - regjeringen.no
- This grant will primarily go to military equipment and the training of Ukrainian forces, and will be channeled through international funding-mechanisms such as NATOs Comprehensive Assistance Package and the British-led International Fund for Ukraine. In addition, there are national initiatives, such as the donation of necessary equipment and winter clothing, says Gram.
