Department of Administration and Finance

The Department of Administration and Finance is responsible for HR policy, organisational development, finance, archiving, ICT, safety, security and emergency planning.

It coordinates budgeting and administrative systems, both within the Ministry and in relation to institutions in the education and research sectors. It is responsible for student grants as a policy area, as well as for managing the following agencies: the Norwegian State Educational Loan Fund; the Norwegian Institute of Foreign Affairs; and the Norwegian Meteorological Institute.

The Department is headed by a Director General, and has six sections:

  • Section for Internal Finances and Operation
  • HR Section
  • Section for Organisational Development
  • Section for Documentation, ICT, Safety, Security and Emergency Planning
  • Section for Legal Affairs, Budgeting and Management
  • Section for Students Grants and Agency Management
