Ministry of Government Administration and Consumer Affairs (1972–1990)

On 8 May 1972, the Ministry of Family and Consumer Affairs had its name changed to the Ministry of Government Administration and Consumer Affairs. Government administration affairs were transferred from the abolished Ministry of Pay and Prices.

On 2 November 1989, responsibility for government administration affairs was transferred to an additional minister in the Ministry of Government Administration and Consumer Affairs. This minister was also given responsibility for labour affairs in the Ministry of Local Government and Labour (of 1948). On 1 January 1990, government administration affairs and labour affairs were transferred to the new Ministry of Government Administration and Labour (of 1990). The Ministry of Government Administration and Consumer Affairs now had its name changed to the Ministry of Family and Consumer Affairs, listed here as the Ministry of Family and Consumer Affairs (of 1990). Affairs were also transferred from the Ministry of Social Affairs (of 1916), the Ministry of Justice and the Police, the Ministry of Local Government and Labour (of 1948) and the Ministry of the Environment. The Ministry of Local Government and Labour (of 1948) now had its name changed to the Ministry of Local Government.
