Ministry of Petroleum and Energy (of 1997) (1997–2023)

The principal responsibility of the Ministry of Petroleum and Energy is to achieve a coordinated and integrated energy policy. A primary objective is to ensure high value creation through efficient and environment-friendly management of Norway’s energy resources.

The Ministry of Petroleum and Energy was established on 1 January 1997. It is listed here as the Ministry of Petroleum and Energy (of 1997). Energy affairs were transferred from the Ministry of Industry and Energy, which now had its name changed to the Ministry of Trade and Industry.
