Taximeters

The requirements to taximeters apply when they are sold or offered for sale, and the measurement result is used in economic transaction. Different specified devices must be connected to the interface of a taximeter in service.
Taximeters must be conformity assessed by a notified body, the installation must be approved by the Norwegian Metrology Service and the taximeters can not exceed the maximal allowed measurement error in service.
The following devices must be connected to the interface of a taximeter in service:
Roof sign and communication unit for transfer of data if it used, indicator, printer and payment terminal. The devices and the connection to these must not have characteristics which make them suited for fraud, and the possibility of unintended misuse must be as low as possible. The lamp of the roof sign must be automatically turned off in the operating positions “Occupied” and “Stop”.
